Windows Update and Patching

Expand / Collapse

Summary

This article explains why Windows Update is showing that your server is reportedly not being patched.

Overview

When logging into a Windows server and viewing Windows Update, you may notice that your server is not being patched.  This is erroneous.  Edge Hosting does not use Windows Update for scheduling patches and therefore the data reported in Windows Update is not correct.  We use a third party program to approve the patches first and then deploy those patches to Windows servers.  This is also why Windows Update is disabled on Windows servers and should remain disabled as enabling it will cause conflicts with our third party software that performs the patching.  If in doubt or you want to confirm that your servers are being patched, please call us at 866-334-3932 Option 2 and we will gladly provide you with your patching schedule for a specific server.
