Summary

This articles goes over adding the Windows Firewall rules for Passive FTP.

Steps

  1. Log into the server via Remote Desktop.
  2. Open the command prompt as the administrator and run the following commands:
  3. netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="FTP (non-SSL)" action=allow protocol=TCP dir=in localport=21
    netsh advfirewall set global StatefulFtp enable
  4. The former opens port 21 and the latter opens the Passive FTP ports required.
