Map a Network Drive in Windows

1. Click the "Map network drive" button in Computer




2. Enter the network folder and select "Connect using different credentials".

  • If you are connecting to 192.168.1.2 sharing its "D" drive you will need to enter this:  \\192.168.1.2\D$
  • If you are connecting to 192.168.1.2 sharing a samba share called d_drive, you will need to enter this:  \\192.168.1.2\d_drive


3. Select log in as a different user and enter the correct username and password.

  • You will need to enter the user as "server\user"
  • If you are connecting as "bob" on 192.168.1.2 you will need to enter this as the user:  192.168.1.2\bob


4. You should now see the new network drive listed under "network location" in Computer. If it fails you will need to contact the server administrator to make sure you are entering the correct information.
