Increase File Download Limits IIS7

Expand / Collapse
This article reviews increasing the file download limit in IIS7.

IIS7 has default request filtering that restricts requests to no more than 30MB in total size. You can check the current setting by running the following command:

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe list config "IIS-SITE-NAME" -section:system.webServer/security/requestFiltering  /config:*

You can increase the limit for a specific site by running the following command:

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe set config "IIS-SITE-NAME" -section:system.webServer/security/requestFiltering /requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:"VALUE-IN-BYTES" /commit:apphost

To increase the limit for all sites on the server, run the following command:

%windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config -section:requestFiltering -requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:"VALUE-IN-BYTES"
